Gun Safety 10 Commandments

A responsible gun user has constant respect for the weapon’s potential lethal power. Irresponsible gun use and handling result in unwanted deaths every day. To ensure the safety not only of the gun user but of every individual who might be in potential path of a discharged bullet from that weapon, there are basic commandments of gun use to be followed at all times.

Gun safety is important not only to a gun owner or for those who want to buy shotguns for sale but to everyone as well.

Here are the following ten “commandments” for everyone who owns, handles, cleans, stores, fires and transport a gun each and every time.

Commandment 1: Always have a steadfast respect for what a gun can do. Always think that a gun, whether loaded or empty will not cause any harm if left alone. So always think that guns are loaded at all times. Do not take or believe other individuals word about the status of weapon. Check the weapon personally and without delay.

Commandment 2: Proper gun handling. Always carry your guns on safety until you are prepared to fire. Always keep your finger away from the trigger until you have set up your shot.

Commandment 3: Proper gun storage. Store your gun in a secured or locking gun safe, this will protect your guns from rusting at the same time keep guns away from being accessed by curious children.

Commandment 4: Educate family members. You need to know that children are curious about guns and getting a hold of it makes them excited by the danger and power the guns has been portrayed. A child raised in an environment of hunters or gun collectors recognizes that at an early age that a gun is purely a different kind of tool.

Commandment 5: Gun familiarity. When gun owners have a lot of guns, the tendency is that he would put the wrong size load in a rifle, pistol, or shotgun. It’s important to pre-check working condition of the weapon and its ammunition. Always make sure that you have the appropriate caliber cartridges for your weapon.

Commandment 6: Be certain of the target and what is behind it. Deer hunters are using rifles that can fire a projectile which can travel thousands of yards. It is vital to know what is behind your prey. This is why before hunting; you need to scout the area, particularly if the area is unfamiliar to you.

Commandment 7: Cleaning and maintaining guns. Having a dirty or malfunctioning gun is perilous. Injury and even death can be caused by a blocked barrel. Removing a jammed shell in a gun can cause the gun to fire at anytime. Never attempt to fix this problem around other people. Leave the field and make sure to always keep the barrel pointing away from yourself.

Commandment 8: Carrying a gun while intoxicated. This is a big no-no! Mind altering substance will prevent you from handling a gun properly as this impairs your judgment or equilibrium. Do the right thing; don’t use a firearm under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Commandment 9: Gun safety. Never leave a safety off while the gun is ready to fire. A simple mistake can cause gun accidents resulting to injuries and many deaths. Always check the safety before picking or putting down your weapon.

Commandment 10: Using common sense. The use of you common sense will bring safety to you and to others. However the modern world lacks this wonderful attribute. Simply remember, never point or shoot a gun if you are not certain of anything.
